GAYA kepimpinan pengetua wanita dan korelasinya dengan kepuasan bekerja di kalangan guru-guru di daerah Hulu Langat Selangor.


Kajian ini dijalankan untuk melihat gaya kepimpinan pengetua wanita dan korelasinya dengan kepuasan bekerja guru-guru di daerah Hulu Langat, Selangor. Penyelidikan ini berdasarkan Teori Laluan Matlamat oleh House (1974) dan Teori Keperluan oleh Maslow (1954). Responden kajian terdiri daripada 120 orang guru di dua belas buah sekolah menengah, di daerah Hulu Langat Selangor. Alat ukur Leadership Behavior Description Questionnaire (LBDQ) yang diubahsuai oleh House (1974), digunakan bagi mengkaji gaya kepimpinan pengetua wanita dan instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengukur kepuasan kerja guru-guru daripada instrumen yang telah digunapakai oleh Ghazali (1979), Nawi (1989), Ghani (1994), dan Abu Fuad (1997). Data yang didapati daripada kajian ini diproses dengan komputer menggunakan program SPSS (Statistical Package For Social Science). Dua jenis statistik digunakan iaitu statistik deskriptif dan statistik infrensi. Statistik deskriptif seperti frekuensi, peratus, min dan sisihan lazim digunakan bagi menghuraikan sampel dan menjawab persoalan kajian. Manakala statistik infrensi seperti Ujian-t. ANOVA satu hala dan Korelasi Pearson bagi menguji hipotesis kajian yang dijalankan. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa gaya kepimpinan yang paling dominan yang diamalkan oleh pengetua wanita di daerah Hulu Langat ialah tingkah laku kepimpinan berorientasikan kejayaan. Tingkah laku kepimpinan menyokong, penyertaan dan berorientasikan kejayaan mempunyai korelasi signifikan yang positif dengan kepuasan bekerja bagi guru-guru di bawah penyeliaan pengetua wanita. Kesimpulannya di sini dapatlah dinyatakan bahawa jika tingkah laku kepimpinan menyokong, penyertaan dan berorientasikan kejayaan meningkat maka didapati tahap kepuasan bekerja guru-guru juga akan turut meningkat.

This study is carried out to observe the correlation between the leadership behavior among the principals of the secondary schools in the District of Hulu Langat Selangor, Darul Ehsan and the level of job satisfaction among their aspective teachers. This study is based on the Path Goal Theory by House (1974), and Maslow's Hierarchy of Need Theory (1954). The respondents of this study consists of 120 teachers from twelve secondary schools in the District of Hulu Langat Selangor. To measure the leadership behavior of the principals, leadership Behavior Description Questionnaire (LBDQ), modified by House (1974), was used as the measuring tool, whilst the tool utilised to measure job satisfaction among of teachers was the instrument used by Ghazali (1979), Nawi (1989), Ghani (1994) and Abu Fuad (1997). The data obtained from the study was processed by computer using the SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Science) programme. Two types of statistics were used, i.e. descriptive statistics and inference statistics. Descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation were applied to analyse the sample and to address the subject matter in question. To test the hypothesis of the study various inference statistics such as t-test, ANOVA and Pearson Correlation were used. The study shows that the most dominant leadership behavior among the principals of the Secondary School in the District of Hulu Langat Selangor, is the achievement oriented leadership. This study further shows that supportive participative and achievement oriented behavior have a significant and positive correlation with the level of job satisfaction of teachers. In conclusion, it is found that there is an improvement in the level of job satisfaction among the teacher when there is an increase in the level of supportive, participative and achievement oriented behavior shown by their principals.
