SCHOOL excellence : a case study of Sek. Men. Agama Maahad Ahmadi, Gemenchih, Negeri Sembilan.

The purpose of the study is to measure the performance, in terms of principal leadership qualities, environment of the school surrounding area and student's academic achievements of Sekolah Menengah Agama Maahad Ahmadi. Population of study are 21 teacher at that particular school and the principal himself. Data was gathered using the survey approach through questionnaires mostly about goal seeking behaviour of principal. The data was analyzed using percentage and frequency distribution methods. Data was also obtained through an interview with the principal. Based on the data gathered, the result shows that leadership of the principal, a safe and conducive school climate for teaching and learning, and high expectation among teachers are some of the factors which determine the excellence of the school. The school also receives financial aids from the Department of Islamic Affairs, Negeri Sembilan. The study suggest ways of enhancing further the school performance. Further studies are also suggested.



THE principal and teamwork role in order to strive for excellence in the field of education : perception study on the secondary teachers in the district of Kemaman, Terengganu.



Leadership and teamwork are the main factors that bring about success for an organization. The need for an effective leadership is always present and expected. On the other side, teamwork is best understood as a dynamic property of organization and an essential ingredient to organizational excellent. The findings from this research as a whole show that the importance and effectiveness of principal's leadership and teamwork are needed in order to strive for excellence in the field of education. This study involves a total of 100 teachers as respondents from secondary schools in the district of Kemaman, Terengganu. It aims to examine the relationship, if any, between Multi-dimensional's leadership and teamwork based on the Theory of school-based management in effort to pursue for excellent in the educational organization. For the purpose of data collection, the Likert scale respondent - questionnaire method is employed. The data are statistically analysed using four methods namely t test, oneway ANOVA, Crosstab and Pearson correlation analysis in order to highlight the relationship between variables. In general, the findings of the study provide significant evidence to support the objectives of the study. Detailed analysis shows the presence of significant relationship between Multi-dimensional's leadership and teamwork in order to strive for excellence in education. An innovation and development are always needed and appreciated in the educational management. It is considered successful and useful in the context of educational research.



EXCELLENT school, a case study at Sekolah Menengah Agama Al-Khairiah Temerloh Pahang.


This study identified the factors of excellence in SM Agama Al Khairiah, Temerloh Pahang Darul Makmur from several perspective, principal’s leadership, safe environment and condusive as well as high aspirations of teachers on students’ academic achievements. The study involved 50 teachers and a school principal. The data was collected using a set of questionaires. The questionaire contains four parts, i.e. part A covers the ground of the respondents, part B measures the leadership of an effective principal, part C concerns the safe environment, finally, part D focuses on the aspirations of the teachers toward the students’ academic achievement. A five points likert scale is used in part B, C and D. The data from the principal was gathered through an interview. The data were processed during the SPSS programme to obtain the frequency, percentage and mean. Meanwhile, non parametric Mann Whithney – U tests were used to evaluate the hypoteses on this research. The result of this research shows that leadership qualities of a principal, save and condusive environment for teaching and learning as well as high aspirations of the teachers have significant contribution towards the excellence of this school.
